Mou Ming (simplified Chinese: 名; traditional Chinese: 無名; pinyin: Wú Míng; Jyutping: Mou4 Ming4; aka Nameless) is a supporting character in the Hong Kong Wuxia comic series Fung Wan. He acts as a mentor and ally to the two protagonists Wind and Cloud.
Nameless is regarded as a Mou Lam legend for his supremacy in martial arts, especially swordplay. He attains the level of "Heavenly Sword" (天劍), the highest level of prowess in swordplay any swordsman can even achieve. Such is his sheer power that he can even perform swordplay without the physical existence of a sword, by using his fingers as swords or emitting energy from his body equivalent to the sharp blades of swords. He used to carry the Hero Sword (英雄劍) as his weapon but he passes it to his eldest disciple Kim San after that.

Birth and childhood
Nameless came from a poor family who lived near the powerful military leader General Mou (慕將軍). Both Nameless' mother and General Mou's wife became pregnant at the same time.
In the far west, the undefeated legend Sword Saint is told that he will be defeated by someone from the east. Sword Saint travels east, intending to seek and challenge the person who will defeat him as prophesied. Sword Saint detects a strong sword aura from General Mou's residence and he discovers that it came from Mou's pregnant wife. The next day, Sword Saint issues a challenge to General Mou for a duel with his unborn child in 18 years' time.
General Mou's son was born slightly earlier than Nameless. When both of the infants were born, their parents felt that their sons will become great heroes one day. Mou's son is named Mou Ying Hung while Nameless was named Wai Ying Hung (韋英雄) then. General Mou wants a decoy to fight Sword Saint on his son's behalf and he pays Wai Ying Hung's father to adopt the child. Wai Ying Hung is renamed to Mou Ying Ming (慕英名). Mou Ying Ming grows up together with Mou Ying Hung as though they were brothers.
Teenage years
Both Mou Ying Ming and Mou Ying Hung grow up to become talented swordsmen. Mou Ying Ming is more pessimistic than his foster brother who always laugh with arrogance and great self-confidence. When they were 16, the brothers go to a mountain where they discover two Hero Swords. They meet Sword Saint, who is impatient to fight with the prophesied person who will defeat him. The brothers fight Sword Saint and Mou Ying Ming is injured badly and loses his physical prowess in martial arts. They manage to escape from Sword Saint and return home with the two Hero Swords.
Mou Ying Ming wants to give up practising swordplay after sustaining the injury. Mou Ying Hung and his father want to force Mou Ying Ming to take up swordplay again. They stage a rebellion against the Chinese government. Mou Ying Ming is disappointed and angry with them. He relinquishes the name "Mou Ying Ming" given to him by his foster father and calls himself "Nameless" ever since then. He joins Kim Chung (劍宗), a school for swordsmen, and becomes a student of Kim Wai. Kim Wai's son Po Kuan is his fellow student. One day, Nameless rescues a woman from being taken advantaged of by Po Kuan. They fall in love and marry later.
Nameless and Po Kuan have a duel to decide who will inherit the manual of Kim Chung's most powerful swordplay skill The Origin of All Swords (萬劍歸宗). Nameless is on the verge of winning when Kim Wai freezes the entire school to prevent his son from losing. The contest ends without a victor and Nameless and Po Kuan leave the frozen school.
Nameless returns to challenge his foster brother with his newly-acquired skills. Legend says that the two wielders of the Hero Swords will eventually have a showdown to decide who is the true hero and the only master of one Hero Sword. The victor is destined to take the path of Heavenly Sword (天劍) and become the greatest swordsman ever. Mou Ying Hung loses the duel intentionally to allow his foster brother to become successful in the Kong Woo in future. Mou Ying Hung disappears from the Kong Woo after his defeat while Nameless rises to prominence.
Rise to prominence and retirement
Nameless travels around the Kong Woo with his wife. His fame grows each day as he defeats more pugilists. He makes friends with many other martial artists and also several enemies as well. Once, he saves a disfigured man from death and accepts him as his disciple. The man is renamed to Ghostly Tiger and he becomes Nameless' faithful servant. Nameless creates the "Nameless Swordplay" (莫名劍法) which increases his prowess in swordplay. By then, he has already made his name in Kong Woo as a Mou Lam legend.
Nameless meets Sword Saint again and duels with him. In contrast to what Sword Saint believed initially, Nameless is destined to be the one who will defeat him in the prophecy, and not Mou Ying Hung. Sword Saint is not satisfied after his defeat and he improves his skills from "Sword 21" to "Sword 22". He challenges Nameless to a duel again but he loses once more.
Nameless' old rival Po Kuan poisons and kills Nameless' wife secretly. Nameless is devastated by the death of his wife. He starts to feel remorseful for having slain several pugilists during his rise to fame. He fakes his own death and retires from the Kong Woo for several years. During these years, he creates a last stance "Nameless Sorrow" (悲痛莫名) for his "Nameless Swordplay". He also accepts a boy called Kim San as his first official disciple.
Relationship with Cloud
In the first chapter of the series, Nameless and Kim San rescue the young Cloud after Cloud's family is massacred by Hung Ba's men. While Cloud recovers from his injury, he watches Nameless teach Kim San the "Nameless Sorrow" sword stance secretly for several nights consecutively. Cloud is impressed with Nameless' skills and wants Nameless to teach him swordplay so he can avenge his family. As Cloud feels great sorrow and has a inborn talent for swordplay, he masters the "Nameless Sorrow" just by mere observation. He challenges Kim San to a duel, hoping to impress Nameless and make Nameless accept him as his disciple. However, Nameless feels that Cloud has too much anger and hatred in his heart, which makes Cloud too merciless and vengeful as a child. He refuses to accept Cloud as his disciple and intends to send the boy away, following the advice of a friend. Cloud leaves in anger.
Years later, a fortune-teller hints to Nameless that he will have a new disciple soon, whose name is "Cloud". Nameless meets Cloud again, who is on a rampage at Tin Ha Wui to kill the defeated Hung Ba. Nameless confiscates his Ultimate Superior Sword and lures him to a temple where both of them start to fight. Cloud wins the duel and Nameless keeps his promise to return him his sword. Concurrently, Kim San is kidnapped by Po Kuan and instigated by Po Kuan into committing a series of atrocities.
The emergence of the super-villain Juet Mo San puts Nameless and Cloud together to save the Kong Woo from Japanese invaders. Cloud's Ultimate Superior Sword cannot realise its full potential until it has been "officiated" by the hottest thing in the world. Nameless realises that the "hottest thing in the world" refers to a single teardrop from the cold and ruthless Cloud himself. Nameless tricks Cloud into stabbing him with the sword one night. When Cloud discovers the truth, he sheds a tear and tells Nameless that he bears no grudge against him. In fact, Cloud respects Nameless the most. Now that Cloud's sword has been "heated", their chances of winning Juet Mo San increase and they travel to Japan together to take on the villain. Cloud is officially accepted by Nameless as his second disciple after their victory over Juet Mo San.
Hero Sword - Broken and reforged
Nameless passes his Hero Sword to Kim San. As Kim San lacks the qualities of a true hero, the Hero Sword is not suitable for him and it is broken by Duen Long's Fire Kirin Sword. Nameless keeps the broken sword and allows Cloud to use it during a mission. Several years later, Nameless' foster brother Mou Ying Hung forges another Hero Sword for him.
The ultimate brotherly duel
After the first duel with Nameless, Mou Ying Hung is never at peace. Although he never regretted giving away the chance to become the greatest swordsman ever to his foster brother, he always wants to determine who is the better man between the two of them. When Mou Ying Hung knows that his life is nearing its end, he challenges Nameless to a duel to get his answer. He slices off his right arm to make the duel a fair one, since Nameless had already lost an arm during the fight with Dai Seik Tin. Nameless and Mou Ying Hung fight each other and pit their best against each other. Mou Ying Hung wins the duel by a slight margin and dies days later as he predicted.
Death
The brotherly duel creates a portal between the Kong Woo and the spiritual world. A strange demon emerges through the portal and becomes the new threat the world. Nameless feels responsible for the creation of this monster and he gathers the best pugilists in the world to help him destroy the creature. He is able to send the demon back into its spiritual realm at the price of his life. Both of them are sealed in the portal. The demon re-emerges again later but Nameless is absent. In the recent issue of the series, Nameless is shown to be still alive but he has lost his prowess and memory. Ghostly Tiger remains faithfully by his side together with Zi Lu.
